H.O.P.E. Farm Boys Choir and Piano Program
The H.O.P.E. Farm Boys Choir and Piano Program, led by Rebecca Ringer, exists as a platform to add value and meaning to the lives of H.O.P.E. Farm boys, their families, and the community of Fort Worth. Musical skill development as well as the rehearsal and performance of songs form the foundation of instruction. The boys engage the community by performing at multiple public events each year, such as singing the national anthem at Texas Christian University basketball games. The boys’ engagement in music permits the boys to develop discipline.
"Since March of 2009, I have volunteered with H.O.P.E. Farm to restart their music program. Through the arts generally and music specifically, I have seen children during my 22 years of teaching experience, change in dramatic and exciting ways. Music gives children a way to communicate and a way to express themselves that builds self confidence. This past spring I met with the boys of H.O.P.E. Farm weekly to revamp their choir program. By the end of summer camp, they had learned several songs and were able to perform in the community singing in two-part harmony. They also, as a group, have begun to learn to read music. Their progress is excellent and it excites me to be working with a group who has so much enthusiasm and potential." - Rebecca Ringer
